Design features:

• cross-platform, works under Mac OS 8.5 or later and Windows 98, NT and 2000
• standard Windows/Macintosh user interface – requires a minimum of training
• multi-tasking: open multiple windows and work in each independently – take an order, print a lengthy report, and look up customer info all at once
• publication-level access controls – some people may only view/sell certain publications
• user/group-level access controls
• true client-server database, working over any TCP/IP-based network
• low maintenance: all database program modifications are installed centrally – no need to update software on each client machine
• high-speed: uses native compiled machine code
