New Features
- Usability improved by the introduction of Getting Started, Backup, Restore and Duplication Wizards
- Individual Exchange Public Folders can be backed up and restored (individual mailboxes could be backed up and restored in previous versions)
- Policy based data grooming helps prevent backups exceeding the disk capacity of a disk assigned to a backup set
- Staged Backup from Disk to Disk to Tape (D2D2T) allows faster backups and restores, whilst still allowing media to be removed from site for disaster recovery purposes
- Virtual Full Backups create a consolidated backup from incremental backups for off-site storage or redundancy, without having to backup the computers again
- Improved backup set transfers for redundancy, only the files that are required to make the 2 sets identical are now moved across
- Additional WORM support for SAIT, SDLT (DLTIce), LTO tape drives for companies using WORM to meet regulatory requirements
- Fibre Channel and iSCSI tape backup devices are now supported
- New options for restores and duplicates, which will replace existing files on hard drives only if the copy in the backup set is newer.
- A new option where files will only be restored if they have been deleted from the hard drive and exist in the backup set
- Larger volumes up to 4 million files per volume
- Improved tape management
- Improved catalogue file repairs
- AES-128 encryption over networks and to tape
- More details of successful and failed backups included in email reports to the administrator
- Tape drives health can now be monitored by support for TapeAlert and DLTSage
- Retrospect events are now integrated into Windows Event Log

- Skip to new media option where the contents of each session are placed on new media, rather than the free space left on the last media used
- Speed of backups and restores improved due to faster matching times for large volumes
- New Taskbar Icon and hot key
- DVD double layer media and drives now supported
