Cross-Platform
Network clients for Retrospect 7.5 for Windows can include PCs running Windows, Red Hat Linux, SUSE LINUX and Solaris, and/or Macs running Mac OS X and Mac OS.
Simple to Set Up and Manage
Backup devices are automatically recognised by the software and effective wizards assist in setting up backups, restores or data duplications. Predefined and custom filters allow administrators to either select or omit information such as music or movie files as required. Automated scripts allows backups to take place outside of normal working hours.
Fast, Reliable and Secure Backups
Retrospect's use of back media is very efficient, it combines data compression with the ability to only backup a single copy of identical files that may be located on multiple desktops and laptops. Progressive backup technology reduces storage costs and helps overcome the speed versus reliability challenge faced by all backup systems. Confidence that systems are being protected is built around the excellent feedback to the Retrospect administrators.
Storage
In addition to disk, tape and optical media, Retrospect can take advantage of off-site storage by backing up over multiple networks or over the Internet. Copies of backups can easily be created to protect against media failure or disaster.
Innovation
The Business Editions include Proactive Backup as standard, which keeps an eye out for computers, such as laptops, that have been unavailable for backup. Once these computers appear on the network, Retrospect commences backing them up whilst allowing the users to continue to use them. Disk to Disk to Tape allows data to be quickly backed up or restored using internal or external hard disks and transfered to tape for media rotation or off-site storage.
